Weight loss

Brain Working Recursive Therapy is a uniquely effective way to help you to gain control of your eating, lose weight, and acquire healthy eating habits. There are many different reasons why people are overweight and a “one size fits all” approach won’t work for everyone. Clients who comes to see me for help with weight loss can expect an individually-tailored service that addresses the specific issues that are preventing them from maintaining a health body weight. Together we will look at, and try to understand, the many different factors that are relevant. These can include poor eating habits, poor food choices, and emotional eating (also known as “comfort eating”), among others. Upon the basis of this initial conversation I will create a therapy programme that works for you and will helps you progress, week by week, from where you are now to where you need to be.

Although losing weight is a priority for many people there is much more to maintaining a healthy body weight than simply trying to lose weight as an end in itself. Being overweight is simply a consequence of poor eating habits and the only effective and sustainable way to lose weight is to make permanent, sustainable and life-long changes to those habits. Diets don't work for people over the longer term because they create a sense of deprivation around food that makes food more precious, not less. Eventually people rebel against the restrictions that they have imposed upon themselves during the diet and go back to their old eating habits. In order to lose weight in a sustainable way you need to acquire new healthy and sensible eating habits and this is exactly what I will help you to do with BWRT. It is also important to consider the nutritional quality of your food. I personally recommend a plant-based diet which has been shown scientifically to promote longevity and dramatically decrease the risk of the most common forms of chronic and fatal disease. A further important consideration is making sure that you are getting an appropriate level of exercise to maintain your health. These are all things that we will discuss and consider, together, as part of your therapy.

PLEASE NOTE: I am no longer working as a therapist. However, I remain a student and supporter of BWRT - an excellent therapy with the power to help people to make personal changes swiftly and effectively. I am keeping this site live in order to help people to discover BWRT, and to share my thoughts and reflections about BWRT from time to time.
