Fear of flying

PLEASE NOTE: I am no longer working as a therapist. However, I remain a student and supporter of BWRT - an excellent therapy with the power to help people to make personal changes swiftly and effectively. I am keeping this site live in order to help people to discover BWRT, and to share my thoughts and reflections about BWRT from time to time. Flying is one of the safest means of transportation and is easily the quickest way of travelling long distances, at the current time. It is often the only practical and feasible way in which people can travel to another part of the world. Most of us do not have the luxury of spending weeks getting to and from our destination by boat or train, and, even if we did, wouldn’t necessarily wish to spend all that time travelling either. People with an intense fear of flying often find themselves stuck "between a rock and a hard place" – either they refuse to fly and accept the limitations that this imposes upon them or they force themselves to go through with it and try to bear the intense fear that this causes them. Neither option looks attractive.
